Regimental Lt.Col.
Regrettably numbers were down this year but at £20.00 per head with a concession of £15.00
for OAP's
who are members of the Branch and served with the regiment represents great value for money.
We were privileged to have as our Regimental Guest Brigadier David Maddan
who has taken over from Colonel Edward Bolitho.
The Brigadier was commissioned to the 2nd Battalion in June 1983.
He spent 2yrs as Mortar Platoon Officer. 1987 saw him promoted to Adjutant 1st battalion at Munster.
1992 Attended Army Staff College became Assistant to inspector General of Doctrine and Training.
1997 Saw his return to Battalion as senior Major.
1999 Promoted to Lt. Colonel at Joint Services Staff College.
2000 Took Command of 1st Battalions. 2002 Mod as Colonel Director of operations.
Currently he is Director of operations in the Defence Intelligence Staff.
2007Appointed Regimental Lt Colonel.
Brigadier Maddan has a wife and four children is a keen runner and an excellent shot.
We thank him for breaking into his busy schedule to visit and spend time with us.
Unfortunately their was a lack of scarlet tunics this year due to the Regiments Deployment.
After the meal and Toasts it was time to let your hair down,
and most did, with Jim as DJ playing a good variety of music
and the bar staff performing well under sustained attack.

REMINDER A.G.M. TUESDAY 1st OF MAY.
20.00HRS AT THE LOWER BROUGHTON BRITISH LEGION .
Sunday 20th May
Eight members attended Regimental Rememberance Sunday Parade,
Four travelled down on the Saturday and stayed at the Union Jack Club,
the other four members met up on Sunday at Wellington Barracks.
The usual march to Horse Guards Parade .
The laying of the wreath at the Guards Memorial and the Tab
back to Wellington Barracks for a well deserved pint for most.
Sadly, the numbers seem to be less each year
but still this is a most disappointing turnout for such a large Branch,
but many veterans still manage to attend.

Grenadier Day 8th July.
Saturday saw some thirty of the Branch coach down to the Copthorne Hotel at Windsor.
With a visit to the Windsor Branch in the evening.
Sunday we travelled to Aldershot in glorious sunshine which prevailed for the whole of the day.
The ladies as usual sold sand to the Arabs,
our stall was completley sold out of garments by 3.30pm,
Thank you and well done.
We was treated to some impressive displays by the Band,
The Association Corp of drums,
and a free fall parachute drop by some of the Guards Para's a very successful event.
The sum of £855.00 was banked on Monday from the sale of Branch goods.
Regretably due to the lack of numbers on the coach,
the Branch will be some £300.00 in deficite on the cost of transport.
